Abstract: ARIADNE (Advanced Research Infrastructures for a Achaeological Dataset Networking in Europe, (www.ariadne-infrastructure.eu) is an EU-funded project which aims to integrate archaeological databases into a single research infrastructure. Its overall goal is to foster a culture of data sharing and re-using, so that the results of our work become widely accessible. ARIADNE is managed by a partnership of European institutions, open to the collaboration of professionals and institutions from anywhere in Europe and abroad. This paper discusses the issues that have lead to its creation, and describes the aims of the project.
