The launch of the Ariadne project in Rome was announced in La Stampa and several other Italian news channels

Ariadne was born and archaeology becomes an e-Science a virtual interface will allow archaeologists simultaneous access to multiple databases containing the results of European research  says La Stampa, which goes on to say: 

Ariadne is the name of the Byzantine empress but it is also an acronym for Advanced Research Infrastructure for Archaeological Dataset Networking in Europe, a project funded under the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. The aim of this project is the creation of a major infrastructure that supports a large online archive of data on the archeology, to allow scholars of the ancient world to take advantage of new technologies for their research and exchange of information at European level .
